image

Mmmm, Chocolate, do I have your attention? I remember roughly a year ago hearing about Dove Chocolate Discoveries and thinking, Wow, what a great idea. I love chocolate, who doesn’t love chocolate right? It’s like the perfect product to sell a women. I’m extremely jealous of Rebekah and I wonder how she doesn’t eat all the goodies before they go to their rightful homes. Learn more about becoming a Dove Chocolatier, read on.

Meet Rebekah

Hello! And thank you for joining us for One Little Indian's WAHM Direct Sales Week, Please introduce yourself to our readers:

Hi I am Rebekah. I am a stay at home mom of three little girls. I am an Independent Chocolatier with Dove Chocolate Discoveries, that's right I get paid to sell chocolate! I am the girls scout leader for my daughters troop.

How did you first hear about the company you now represent and what made you want to join?

I saw it on a direct sales directory site. I was looking for a company to join but didn't want to join one that already had several consultants in my area. The idea of being the only one in town  was very appealing.

That would be very appealing! How many Dove Consultants are in the United States? Are there any states that are really low on Consultants?

There are only about 6,000.

How easy was getting your "foot in the door" with your company, Were there any costs associated with joining and what did you get for these costs?

I had a choice of what kit to choose. I purchased the $159 kit and it included enough product to do 5 tasting parties.

We all know that having a Down Line is important in any Direct Sales Business, How did you go about getting your down line to join you? How many people do you currently sponsor for your company?

I have two people currently underneath me with one more joining this month.

Are those people friends/family or how did they find out about your business?

The two current ones are family and the one getting ready to join this month ran across my Facebook page.

Do you do home parties? If so tell me a little about how a typical party might run? How much work goes into a party? How many home parties do you do a month?

Yes I do Chocolate tasting parties! You invite the guests and I bring the chocolate! The menu usually includes: milk chocolate cinnamon dusted almonds, truffle fudge brownies, mint and peanut butter baking bit, chocolate martini, sugar free chocolates, raspberry and mango dessert sauces, spiced chai tea (served as a dip), milk chocolate mousse, dark chocolate fondue! I prepare the baked goods before hand and the other things are either ready to eat treats or prepared at the party. I would say from start to finish I put in about 4 hours total for a party. I try to do one to two parties a month. I have no doubt I could get more if I tried!

image
Yumm, that sounds great! Now do you carry products at the home party that those attending could chose right there or do you have to submit an order?

No, I don’t carry inventory they have to submit an order.

Do you have to do home parties to be a consultant? What other ways can I sell the product?

You do not have to but there are better sales that do come from them. People tend to be more willing to purchase it once they have tasted it. People can do online parties, catalog parties, or just place individual orders. Next month we will have online ordering for our customers.

How much in sales does a home party have to earn for the hostess to get discounts/free products? Tell us about the discounts for parties! I'm nosy, I'd love to hear what I could potentially earn from hosting a party with your company.

A qualifying party starts at $200, host earns 10% in free product, and you can purchase the new artisan butter almond toffee only available to hosts! $350 earn 10% free product and 2 half price items plus once you reach this mark you get Free shipping on your order and you can purchase host exclusive items,  $500 15% free product and 3 half price items, and the toffee for half price,  $750 15% free and 4 half price items, if you reach $800 in sales you get the 15% free, 4 half price items and the toffee for free,  $1,000 20% free and 4 half priced Plus receive milk chocolate covered cashews and dark chocolate covered almonds FREE when you host $350 and have 10 buying guests. Plus if you have 2 guests book a party from your show you can buy the mint filled dark chocolate baking bits for 67% off. You can also put your host $ towards the purchase of your kit!!

How much in sales does an average party generally do?

My smallest so far was $250 and my largest was about $950, they average around $350.

And the big question, If I were a Rep. for your company what can I expect to earn in commission? What is the "rate"?

25% commission of party total

Is it easy to advance in your company? How long have you been a consultant and how quickly did you advance?

Once you have two active Chocolatiers under you, you move up to Senior Chocolatier. I joined in April and moved up in July

Is there a minimum in sales that you have to make to remain “active” or to keep your status in your company? How do you attain that? Is it easy?

$400 in 3 months, it is very easy!! You can easily earn that in One party! My last party was over $900.

image
What support do you provide to those that sign up under you? If I signed up I’d be so lost, how would you help me to get started and to be successful if I’ve never had a Direct Sales Business before?

I would share my menu and ways to make the products stretch and share what I have learned. I would keep in contact with you either by phone or email on a monthly basis or more if you would like!

Does your company have any kind of training for new consultants? What about "Special Events"?

We have a fantastic information section on our website that tells you about products and all the new updates and flyers for you to print. They have conference calls recorded that have great information about products and recipes and how to make things work.

Are there any other special "Perks" that your company provides? Such as free products, extra cash, trips, etc. for anything?

We have a quick start program where you earn credit (cocoa cash) towards purchase of product. in your fist 30 days - sell $1,000 and get $100 cocoa cash, same for you 31-60 days and 61-90 days and for each new recruit you get in your first 90 days you get $100 cocoa cash and if your recruit sells $1,000 in their first 30 days you get $50 cocoa cash! Plus they offer incentive trips everyone in awhile. Right now it is a trip to Dominican Republic, Punta Cana!

Wow, that sounds amazing! I’d love a free trip. What are the requirements to earning the trip?

Trip for one you must have 19,000 points, trip for two you need 38,000 points. You earn points $1 in personal sales gets you 1 point, each qualified recruit gets you 1,000 points and each personal promotion you get 5,000 points. It is an all-inclusive resort 5 days 4 nights.
